FAQs

  • What can I expect from my initial physiotherapy session at UpRight Physiotherapy?
Prior to your first appointment at UpRight Physiotherapy, we’ll send you a couple of online questionnaires to gather important information about your goals and conditions. This takes about 10 minutes and helps us prepare for your visit. Initial Appointment (60 minutes total) During your initial session at Upright Physiotherapy, we’ll take the time to get to know you, your health concerns, and your goals. Our approach is comprehensive and holistic, and we’ll work together to understand the specific challenges you're facing. We’ll explore your symptoms and movement patterns in-depth, with the option for family or support people to be present if you’d like. Our physiotherapists use advanced vestibular testing equipment, such as video Nystagmography, Video Head Impulse Testing, Central oculomotor testing and balance functional evaluation, to assess your condition thoroughly. At the end of the consultation you will have an understanding of your pathology, why you're experiencing difficulties, and how physiotherapy can help. If you have any questions about your condition before your appointment, feel free to reach out, and one of our physiotherapists would be happy to chat with you.
  • How long are your sessions?
Initial appointments are 60 minutes – double the duration of most standard physiotherapy sessions – allowing for a thorough assessment and treatment plan. Most follow-up appointments are also 60 minutes, though a 30-minute session may be arranged if agreed upon by both the physiotherapist and yourself. We dedicate 60 minutes to ensure a comprehensive and holistic assessment, allowing us to better understand your unique health concerns, goals, and movement patterns, and provide you with the best possible care.
  • Can I claim my physiotherapy through my private health cover? Do you have HICAPS?
If you have ‘extras’ cover you should be eligible to claim part of your treatment fee. All health funds are different and different health fund benefits vary, so it is best to check the details of your policy with your provider. We have a HICAPS machine in clinic, so your claim can be processed directly from your health insurer, leaving only the gap payable on the day.

This is a complex issue. NDIS as of 2019 for Physiotherapy offer a rebate fee of $193.99. At Upright Physiotherapy, we are not registered to cater for NDIS managed patients. As our company is small, the cost for set up and accreditation is too high for us. However, we do manage self managed NDIS and non NDIA managed patients!
  • Can you provide home visits?
We prefer to treat in our clinic as we have access to all our required equipment for diagonsing, treatment and rehabilitation. However, we do provide home visits to some of our long-term established clients, depending on their needs.
  • Do you accept GP Management Plans (GPMP) & Team Care Arrangements (TCA)?
Yes, we accept both GP Management Plans & Team Care Arrangements, however a valid GP referral is required in order to access the associated rebate. *Please note, we do not BULK BILL GP Management Plans or Team Care Arrangements. All sessions are charged as per our fee schedule. Upon receipt of payment, we will process your Medicare rebate of $60.35 (as of January 2025) into your nominated account.
  • Do you see DVA (Department of Veteran Affairs) patients?
Yes, we do see eligible veterans, under the Dept. of Veteran Affairs. However, as our physiotherapists specialise in neurological and vestibular conditions, we kindly ask that you provide a valid D904 form or a GP referral that specifically mentions the patient's condition. This is necessary so we can seek prior approval and confirmation from the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) before your initial appointment.
